Not too naughty, Mocha Mousse

Ok, so it’s not exactly health food but Gourmet Gateways Mocha mousse is free from refined sugars and packs a bunch of antioxidants through the addition of olive oil, coffee & dark chocolate!

This recipe serves 4 people Yum Not too naughty, Mocha Mousse


200g Dark chocolate (semi sweet)

½ cup of full cream milk

3 tbsp. Julius Meinl instant coffee

2 Whole eggs

1 egg yolk

½ Cup Monte Rosso extra virgin olive oil

3 tbsp. Honey

1 tsp. Vanilla essence

1 tsp. Ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

Coffee beans & cocoa to serve



Half fill a saucepan with warm water and place on the stove at a medium heat. Place a bowl that will sit on top of the saucepan snugly but not touch the water. Add your dark chocolate, watch closely and continually stir until chocolate is completely melted. Stir through olive oil and coffee till dissolved. Remove your bowl from the saucepan. Stir through honey, vanilla, cinnamon and salt.  Set aside.

Next, in a separate bowl add eggs, yolk and milk, whisk for 3 minutes. Slowly pour into your chocolate & olive oil mixture. Fold through the mixture, trying not to remove too much air.

Spoon mixture into ornate glasses and allow to set in the fridge for 3 – 4 hours. When your ready to serve dust with cocoa & coffee beans. Enjoy!
